CANCELLED! Yes, I know, I am still in shock. I didn't really see it coming despite the rather low ratings in April. I don't know if it will help any, but there is a petition that has already been signed by over 30.000 people. Christina Applegate is also promoting it. Please sign it too, you find it at http://www.petitiononline.com/sw2000/petition.html.
The good news are: the as-of-yet unaired episodes will finally air starting June 25. And season 2 will be out on DVD on August 25. At least something to look forward to...
next new episode: According to latest news, the next new episode is being delayed. The current air date for "The Rock Star" is March 26, 2009. Yes, I know, that's not a Monday, but a Thursday. It will also move to an earlier time slot, presumably 8:30 p.m. It remains to be seen whether that new day/time will be a good thing or not. If only the wait were not that longt!
New: The season 1-DVD is out by now as well! There are some cool extras on it, too, in addition to the 15 episodes!
Tim has landed a part on the comedy series "Samantha Who?". He plays Frank, the Doorman. The series is about Samantha Newly, a hit-and-run victim, who awakes from a coma after 8 days - and finds out she doesn't remember anything from her past. Which may be for the best, since she soon discovers that she was a rather awful person that cheated on her boyfriend, hasn't talked to her parents in two years and is an alcoholic. She doesn't like that a bit and wants to change.
The cast:
The series was created by Cecelia Ahern and Don Todd. It airs on Monday nights on ABC, at 9:30/8:30 p.m., right after "Dancing With the Stars". The pilot aired on 10/15/07 and was a huge success in the ratings.
Don't forget to check out the official page on "Samantha Who" at abc.com and the nice, inofficial webpage on the series (plus a nice forum) at samanthawho.org. There is also a yahoo-group for the show now.
There is also this cool widget, that you can grab at abc.com. Here it is:
Samantha meets the doorman for the first time. She finds it weird and impolite that she never asked him his name. She now learns his name is Frank. We also find out that he attends a screenwriters' class on Thursday nights - which is when he is off work. Maybe it's this class that enables him to give her good advice. After all, when telling a story, you normally start at the beginning.... that's why he tells her to go home, if she wants to find out who she is and how she became the person she was before the accident. Here are a few pics from the pilot. The screen shots were made by me. "Samantha Who?" is obviously © by ABC, no copyright infringement is intended.

First things first: The ratings did drop a bit, but not too much. "Samantha Who?" is still the #1 Comedy!
As to our dear Frank, he has another run-in with Samantha. She is on her way to a meeting, but isn't sure she is properly dressed. Who else to ask for advice than Frank? He approves - she is dressed much more appropriately than before her accident. He quotes Coco Chanel on over-accessorizing, saying that the one thing she used to remove was more often than not her dignity. This honest remark causes her to ask his advice in yet another aspect of her appearance: Does he think she should get a boob job? Frank obviously thinks she is going too far here and reminds her drily that they "are not friends". Once again, here are a few pictures from their encounter (as before, they are © by ABC, screen caps made by me, no copyright infringement intended).
When Samantha is about to exit the building, Frank tells her that something was delivered by her taylor. He gets the dress for her - it's a bridesmaid's gown. Of course she doesn't remember having been invited to a wedding. She asks Frank if there was a message for her - and he says only that she should disregard the warning on the plastic bag and feel free to use it as a toy. (you simply have to love his dry humor!)
This is the first time we see Frank in an indoor set and in a scene that involves not just Samantha, but Dena as well. It is also the first time that we see him perform some other aspect of his job than just stand at the door. Once again, here are a few pictures from their encounter (as before, they are © by ABC, screen caps made by me, no copyright infringement intended) - and as always, they are thumbnails!

Sam doesn't remember what it feels like to have sex. Andrea decides that makes her a virgin. When Sam tells her new confidant Frank that she is a virgin, he comments: "Yes, Ma'm. And I am a pirate." Later on she goes to see Todd, dtermined to sleep with him. But he has brought another girl home. So she leaves again, since it's close to midnight anyway. On her way out, she tells Frank that she is not a virgin anymore. He saw her go in only a short while back. He looks at his wrist-watch incredulously and decides that she can't be a cuddler.
Sam is trying to re-connect with her father. So when Frank tries to call her a cab, she proudly tells him that her father will meet her today. Then she asks Frank if he has any kids. Yes, he has a daughter. Does he tell her that he loves her? OF course. All the time. Well, not today - she was still asleep when he left for duty. Fortunately at that point Sam's father shows up to meet her and Frank doesn't have to explain any further about his relationship with his daughter. But he can't help watching Howard and Sam, especially since they sit down on a nearby bench and Howard hands her the ice-cream he has bought for her. So Frank decides "For Pete's sake" - he can risk a private conversation while on duty - he pulls out his cell phone and calls his daughter. And now make an educated guess what he calls her when she answers the phone? Yep, that's right. Frank's daughter is called "Maddy", too! Awww, was that sweet!!!!
Also, after Dena two weeks ago, Howard Newly is now the second character other than Sam that appears in the same scene with Frank, even though the two do not directly interact.
When Sam tells Frank that thanks to a hypnotherapist she now remembers being adopted and other details like her heart-shaped necklace she received from her birth parents, the dog she used to have, our good doorman once again shows that he is well versed in literature and theatre and immediately recognized the story as "Annie". He even starts singing one of Annie's songs, which reminds Sam that she once played Annie in a school play.
When Sam later enters the building in a grim mood, Frank tries to make her lighten up a bit by pointing out that the sun will come out - though he is not too successful.
In the last scene he promises Sam that he will handle Todd's return to the apartment and he also notices that the hypnotherapist was good for something after all: she is not afraid of elevators anymore. He also helps her with her luggage - he is obviously very good at his job.

No Frank!
No Frank! (Well, if it helps, there is no Todd either...)
Frank is back!!! He is on duty at night, and he has a situation at hand, when Sam shows up and starts screaming Todd's name in front of the house. She is drunk, too. Frank takes her to a coffee house to sober her up a bit and they talk about love and relationships. We find out that Frank and his wife karaoke, and that she has all the drawers in their relationship. Frank also mentions the lead character of his screen play, who says something about being able to tell somebody "I love you" is more important and gratifying than hearing these words. And that said character is bit by a shark afterwards. Frank makes Sam realize she never told Todd she loved him while they had their relationship. So she goes up and tells Todd that way back when she did love him. On her way out she meets Frank again and tells him that it was easy to tell Todd now. Mabey in the future she will always tell guys after the relationship is over... except, maybe... she gives her new-found friend Frank a look and he goes all stiff and tells her to not even think about telling him...
After trying to fool her rival Chloe into thinking that she and Todd are back together, Samantha finds herself locked out of her appartment - wearing just a flimsy negligee and high heels. Of course, Frank offers her his coat and waits with her for Andrea to show up with decent clothes. She discovers the monitor of his security camera and thinks it's a TV set, where a show is on with an interracial couple!
No Frank!
After Samantha has tried everything to prevent the construction of a mall - it's one of her projects from before the accident, but since it involves destroying the habitat of a rare species of butterflies she is now against it - she leaves her job. Her next goal: get Todd back. So she goes to the appartment and tries to get some information out of Frank. Is Chloe up there? And if he doesn't want to tell her, she can wait here all day. She doesn't work anymore. He is not impressed. He waits there all day long every day... Then Todd comes out. Sam kisses him passionately, then throws him to the ground and leaves satisfied. Frank helps Todd up...
